Johan Marklund

Biography

Johan Marklund joined the Division of Production Management as an Assistant Professor in the spring of 2005. Before that he held a position as Assistant Professor in Operations Management at Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado at Boulder. He has also worked as a consultant for the Boston Consulting Group. He received his M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and Management from Linköping Institute of Technology/Linköping University (1994), his B.Sc. in Business Administration from Lund University (1997) and his Lic. Eng. and Ph.D. in Production Management from Lund Institute of Technology/Lund University in (1997,1999).

His research interests lie in the area of inventory theory, supply chain management and logistics. A special focus is placed on stochastic multi-echelon inventory problems. He has published in various scientific journals including Production and Operations Management, Naval Research Logistics, European Journal of Operational Research, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, and Operations Research.

Johan's teaching experience include various courses in Operations Research, Production and Inventory Management, Quality Control and Quality Management, Managerial economics, Business administration, Accounting, Simulation Modeling, and Business Process Design. He has taught in the engineering programs at Linköping University and Lund University in Sweden, and in the undergraduate and graduate programs at the Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado at Boulder, USA. He has co-authored the textbook "Business Process Modeling, Simulation and Design" (with Professor Manuel Laguna), published by Prentice-Hall in 2004.
Current teaching interests are in supply chain management, operations research, production and inventory control, quality management and process design and simulation.
